The Indigo Prem launched on Saturday 3rd September with six games taking place across the country – kicking off with a local derby at Sardis Road between Pontypridd and Cardiff RFC.
The Prem is the highest-level grassroots rugby in Wales and, according to S4C Sports Commissioner, Sue Butler,
“it’s the pinnacle of Welsh club rugby and is an important foundation of our national game.”
Following a growth in audience viewing figures (especially amongst younger fans) for last season’s broadcasted games, S4C plan to live-stream more weekly games this season with Sue Butler adding: “We are committed to showing Welsh sport across all of our platforms and we’re looking forward to some cracking Thursday night games.”
Last year’s televised games proved a massive hit for players, coaches, match officials, fans and clubs alike and I’ve no doubt it will be similar again this season. To have this coverage across a number of channels can only be good for the game and the Indigo Premiership.
Rugby is a massive part of the Indigo Group, as are its values of teamwork, commitment and dedication, that’s why we are incredibly proud to continue supporting the game we love.
You can keep up to date with fixtures via Twitter and Facebook (S4C, Indigo Prem) or, for a full list of fixtures you can check them out on the WRU Indigo Group Premiership webpage!
